City of Gray Garbage Services

The City of Gray chose Advanced Disposal to provide these services.  A single negotiated franchise agreement was entered into that outlines strict guidelines for Advanced Disposal to adhere to.  This agreement not only offers us the comfort in knowing that this critical environmental service is being performed per local, state and federal rules and regulations, but also that Advanced Disposal is committed to providing our City with the most professional and reliable services available.

Advanced Disposal provides weekly curbside garbage collection to City residents on Thursday and Friday. Holiday collections “slide” to the next day after the holiday.  Example, if your collection day is on Thursday then your collection will “slide” to Friday.

Place garbage cart out for collection after 6:30 P.M. the night before collection or before 6:00 A.M. on collection day.  Residents should remove garbage cart from the curb by 8:00 P.M. on your collection day.

Please help us provide efficient, safe and timely service to all residents by doing the following:

  • Put carts or cans where the trash collector can conveniently get to them
  • Use Advanced Disposal provided roll-out carts
  • Put all garbage and household refuse in watertight bags before being placed in roll-out cart
  • Wash roll-out cart with soap and water as needed

State laws prevents Advanced Disposal from collecting the following with household waste:

  • Yard waste
  • Building materials
  • Appliances
  • Tires
  • Motor oil
  • Liquids
  • Auto and boat batteries
  • Hazardous wastes
  • Flammable, explosive, radioactive or toxic wastes Infectious wastes (including untreated medical waste, hospital waste and dead poultry or other animals which do not pass federal and state regulations

Yard Waste

Yard waste is collected on the third (3rd) Saturday of the month.  Notice will given on your water bill as a reminder.  Yard waste is defined as grass clippings, leaves, shrubbery and tree cuttings, pine needles, palm fronds and other similar organic waste materials accumulated as the result of the cultivation and maintenance of lawns, shrubbery, vines, trees, gardens, etc.  Plastic planting pots, ground cover sheeting, lumber and fencing are not yard waste materials.  Yard trash can be no more than 4 feet in length and no more than 6 inches in diameter.  Smaller items must be bagged or containerized and larger items must be bundled and tied, and stacked neatly curbside.  Household garbage and yard debris must be kept separate for proper collection.  Yard trash is collected separately.  The City of Gray does not collect clearing debris from lots and will not pick up debris placed at the curb by private contractors.

White Goods

White Goods are collected once a quarter.  Notice will given on your water bill as a reminder.  White Goods are defined as stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, washing machines, furniture and other similar materials.  Refrigerators and freezers need to have the doors removed or taped shut as a safety precaution.
